Netflix gets a Price Hike

Netflix has officially announced a rate hike to their movie service.  At least only if you care about the DVD or Blue-Ray by mail option.  Their streaming services are still available at the rate of $7.99 for unlimited use, but if you want to continue to receive movies by mail, the unlimited service starts at $15.99 from the previous price of $9.99 for both.  You can also chose to do one DVD out only for $7.99 with no streaming.  While this might be troublesome for those who rely on the mail feature to watch newer releases, some like myself will not really have any trouble with this.  I have been sitting on the same DVD at home for over six months, and the previous one for probably that same length of time.  My wife hates to wait for them to come in, so she spends the dollar at the Redbox.  While the possibility of watching new features is nice, I still have over 300 movies on the instant que to go through.

There's still tons of zombies in streaming
Netflix posted their announcement on Facebook yesterday at 12:22pm to a massive flare up of negative comments and rallies to boycott.  Twitter has been equally unkind to a company which has over the years kept a very happy customer base.  As I see it, I will now be saving $2 per month and will continue to love the service on my Xbox 360 and Windows 7 phone.  For a full description of this price change and the explanation from Netflix click HERE for the Netflix blog, and check them out on Twitter and Facebook to see the scathing comments of the angry mobs.
What do you think of this change?  How will it affect you?

Don't forget to visit the Netflix page and change the type of account you have with them if you don't want to pay the additional fee.
